But the real challenge comes when effort is required in order to show love. It becomes more like an act of will, a decision that one has to make when placed in situations where one’s own boundary of comfort is challenged. It is a tough choice to make, especially when one knows that there is a heavy cost to it because loving others requires work, hard work, a lifetime work.
There will be a point of time when love will seem insincere and inauthentic because the initial stage of loving the opposites is an involuntary act of love. But, I believe that the feelings of love will eventually catch up with our right actions if we have the determination in our heart to continue loving even when we don’t feel like it.
Maybe if we think of love as an art, then the only way to master this art is to make it a servant of our wills. But, to make it a servant of our wills is a choice that we have to make for ourselves.
“Love is not affectionate feeling, but a steady wish for the loved person's ultimate good as far as it can be obtained”
~C.S. Lewis

IMHO, best post so far. Keep it up!
Art is not so much a servant of our will. Rather, it is an expression, a reflection of our self. So is an act of Love an expression of our Love within. One must never seek to master Love, but to become Love.
wah so chim... read d also dunno wat to think lolz. But well, Love is indeed one tough topic to tackle, to define it is like to defy nature, so its kindof hard for an engineer's mind :P
nice reflection though XD
Hey melvin, thanks for dropping a comment. I understand where you’re coming from and I think what you said is true. But let me redefine my terms when I used the word ‘art’.
The word 'art' can be used to describe many things. The most common word used to describe it is 'skill'. But, the term ‘art’ can also be described as a process, an object or an experience.I was thinking of 'art' in terms of discipline, where one goes through a training of self-control & obedience in order to produce a pattern of behaviour (in this case, love).
I agree when u said that one must never seek to master love. But I think you were thinking more of love as an object. Indeed, we are to become love- objects, tools that God uses to spread His love to the people around us. Only He can be the ultimate Master of Love.
